Machel Montano shocked fans on stage at the ‘Black 2 Blue Breakfast Party’ by announcing this year’s Machel Monday, which takes place on 17th February 2020, will be the last after 10 years. He made the announcement during his first official performance for the 2020 Carnival Season on Saturday morning (11th January 2020).
Speaking candidly to his fans, the thousands of patrons in attendance at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy Car Park in Tarouba, Machel said the following: Allyuh eh find Machel in this business long enough? I am 45 and allyuh is meh real friends — we grow up together. If real friends love real friends, what they do? They look out for them. Anybody happy to be Machel friend or fan? Put yuh hand in the air, please.
He gave no clear reason or reasons as to why he decided to end Machel Monday this year. Over the past decade, Machel Monday has been one of the premier events for Carnival - attracting large crowds and bringing a high level of excitement for the Event, which included surprise guest celebrities from the U.S and other countries.
Machel has won the Soca Monarch title five (5) times and won his 8th Road March title in 2019 in a joint victory with Bunji Garlin (Ian Alvarez) and Skinny Fabulous (Gamal Doyle of St. Vincent) with their hit ‘Famalay.’ [Source]

[Source: TriniJungleJuice] Continuing analysis of data from satellites, radar and electronic data collected by the U.S military and intelligence suggests the plane was shot down by two (2) Russian-made SA-15 Surface-to-Air Missiles. The U.S saw Iranian radar signals lock onto the Jetliner, before it was shot down. The Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA) flight PS752 came down within just 3 minutes after takeoff from Tehran on Wednesday 8th January 2020, killing all 176 people on board, including dozens of Iranians and Canadians. The Boeing 737-800 was headed for Kiev, where 138 passengers were expected to take a connecting flight to Canada. Also killed on the flight were Ukrainians, Swedes, Afghans, Germans and British nationals. The crash came just hours after Iran fired missiles at two (2) Iraqi Bases housing U.S Troops in retaliation for the killing of its top General. President Donald Trump on Thursday said he suspected the crash was not due to mechanical issues, indicating that "somebody could have made a mistake on the other side." Asked during a White House event what he thought happened to the plane, Trump said, "Well, I have my suspicions." Both Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also believe the Ukrainian Airliner was shot down by an Iranian Surface-to-Air Missile, based on intelligence. Trudeau said “this may have been unintentional” at a Press Conference in Ottawa on Thursday while Johnson released the following statement: There is now a body of information that the flight was shot down by an Iranian Surface to Air Missile. This may well have been unintentional. We are working closely with Canada and our international partners and there now needs to be a full, transparent investigation. Iranian investigators’ initial finding, released less than a day after the crash, was that a fire broke out due to a technical failure and the plane was trying to return to the Airport when it crashed. Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mohammad Eslami, said it was too early to speculate and that “rumours that a terrorist attack, explosion or shooting at the plane may have caused the incident” are “not true.”
UPDATE: The Queen has reacted to the shocking news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are stepping back from their roles in the Royal Family, by releasing the following statement from Buckingham Palace:
Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are stepping back from their roles as senior members of the British Royal Family and plan to work towards becoming "financially independent," the couple shockingly announced on Instagram on Wednesday 8th January 2020. This essentially means they will no longer receive money from taxpayers. The couple and their baby son, Archie, spent the recent Christmas holidays in Canada.
Pictured Above: Prince Harry and Son, Archie, in Canada.
The unprecedented move comes after a year of what the couple described in an October interview as "unfair" and "untrue" media coverage that took a heavy toll on their lives.
Read the couple’s full statement below. After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.
According to TMZ, the move to ‘North America’ is actually Canada, a British Commonwealth nation, where Meghan has some roots. She filmed "Suits" in Toronto where she rented a house.

UPDATE (08/01/20): President Trump said in an address to the nation from the White House on Wednesday that the U.S will "immediately impose additional punishing economic sanctions" against Iran. He also said he would ask NATO allies to become "much more involved" in the Middle East.
I'm pleased to inform you, the American people should be extremely grateful and happy. No Americans were harmed in last night's attack by the Iranian regime. We suffered no casualties, all of our soldiers are safe and only minimal damage was sustained at our military bases.
UPDATE 2: Members of Congress said Tuesday night that they were praying for U.S military forces overseas and that they were monitoring developments following news that Iran launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles at U.S forces in Iraq.
UPDATE: Iran has started a second round of attacks against Bases holding U.S Troops in Iraq. The second round of attacks started an hour after the first phase took place, according to the Tasnim News Agency in Tehran.
Iran launched more than a dozen missiles at two (2) Iraqi Bases that hold U.S Troops on Tuesday evening (7th January 2020) in what appears to be retaliation for the U.S airstrike that killed a top Iranian General, Qasem Soleimani, in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad last week. Tehran had vowed revenge for the killing, which it says was an "act of war" and "state terrorism."
U.S President Donald Trump said he will be making a statement on Wednesday 8th December 2020 concerning the attacks.
White House Press Secretary, Stephanie Grisham, confirmed on Tuesday that Trump was briefed on the reports of rocket attacks at the Bases.
We are aware of the reports of attacks on US facilities in Iraq. The President has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team.
There have been no confirmed reports of U.S casualties but an assessment is taking place. U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army General Mark Milley arrived at the White House following the attack.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) released a statement in which it referred to the U.S as “the Great Satan.” To the Great Satan ... we warn that if you repeat your wickedness or take any additional movements or make additional aggression, we will respond with more painful and crushing responses.
The IRGC also warned that any country housing U.S Troops could be subject to "hostile and aggressive acts.”
This latest attack on U.S Troops in Iraq represents a test for Trump going forward as he previously warned Iran about any retaliation against U.S interests.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was discussing the situation in Iran when she was handed a note with news of the attack.
