Apple Releases iOS 17 For iPhones, Packed With 400+ New Features/Changes

Apple released several major software updates for its various devices this afternoon (Monday 18th September 2023), including iOS 17.0 (21A329) and iPadOS 17.0 (21A329).

iOS 17 contains hundreds of new features and is compatible with the following iPhones:

• 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max;
• 15 and 15 Plus;
• 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max;
• 14 and 14 Plus;
• 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max;
• 13 and 13 mini;
• 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max;
• 12 and 12 mini;
• 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max;
• 11;
• Xꜱ and Xꜱ Max;
• Xʀ;
• SE (2nd generation and later).

Some of the new features in iOS 17.0 include the following:

• Contact Posters to personalize the call screen for every contact, as well as your own;
• StandBy mode;
• Live Voicemail;
• Safari profiles;
• Interactive widgets;
• You can now say “Siri” instead of “Hey, Siri;”
• Download maps offline;
• NameDrop;
• Redesigned iMessage app drawer;
• Create stickers from photos;
• Leave a message on FaceTime.

​Apple’s description of iOS 17 states: “iOS 17 brings big updates to Phone, Messages, and FaceTime that give you new ways to express yourself as you communicate. StandBy delivers a new full-screen experience with glanceable information designed to view from a distance when you turn iPhone on its side while charging. AirDrop makes it easier to share and connect with those around you and adds NameDrop for contact sharing. Enhancements to the keyboard make entering text faster and easier than ever before. iOS 17 also includes updates to Widgets, Safari, Music, AirPlay, and more.”

In addition to iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, Apple also released the following software updates this afternoon:

• ​watchOS 10.0 (21R355 | 21R356);
• ​tvOS 17.0 (21J354);
• ​HomePod Software 17.0 (21J354).

​Meanwhile, macOS 14 Sonoma is scheduled to be released to the public on 26th September 2023.
