Pictured Above: Jesse John, 32. A 32-year-old man was killed in a crash on the Northbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway in Charlieville early yesterday morning (Friday 27th January 2023). He has been identified as Jesse John of Bagna Trace, Chase Village.
According to reports, Officers of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Unit in Freeport responded to a road traffic accident around 1:20 AM on the Northbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway, in the vicinity of the Charlieville Walkover. Upon arrival, Officers observed a blue Honda Civic wedged between the Walkover and a concrete post. John, who was the driver and sole occupant of the Civic, was found pinned in the driver’s seat, with smoke and fire emanating from the vehicle. The blaze was extinguished by Fire Officers from the Chaguanas Fire Station, led by FSO Woods. The ‘Jaws of Life’ had to be utilized to remove John from the mangled vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a District Medical Officer (DMO). Cpl David and other Police Officers from the Chaguanas Police Station also responded to the scene and are continuing investigations into the tragic accident.
