A man was shot and killed in Sangre Grande last night (Monday 21st August 2023). The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Stefan Jury of Fishing Pond, Sangre Grande, who is said to be the brother of a female Police Officer.
According to reports, residents heard several loud explosions around 8:30 PM at Ganda Road, Fishing Pond, Sangre Grande. Police were notified and upon arrival, they found two (2) spent shells at the scene. The Officers later proceeded to Seecharan Trace, Fishing Pond, located about a quarter mile into the trace, where Jury's body was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Shortly after the shooting, a man in a car believed to have been involved in the shooting, was apprehended by Officers. A firearm was also seized at Ojoe Road, Sangre Grande. Jury's Nissan Frontier vehicle was later found ablaze along Flemming Road, Fishing Pond, where he lived. No motive has yet been established for this murder. Jury's killing pushed the country's murder count last night to 379 for the year. Investigations are continuing. More on this as it becomes available.
