Within the Budget Statement for fiscal 2024, Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, introduced a proposition to allocate a School Supplies and Book Grant of $1,000 to support financially disadvantaged students at both primary and secondary school levels.
To ascertain eligibility for this grant, the Ministry of Education is currently undertaking a Means Test application process. The Ministry notes that this initiative is designed to “address the financial challenges faced by students in acquiring essential supplies, thereby facilitating their attendance at primary and secondary schools.” The deadline for applications is Friday 26th April, 2024. A: Currently, this application is only open to students of Government and Government-Assisted primary and secondary schools. Q: Is this application process open to students attending schools in Tobago as well? A: YES, this application is open to all students of Government and Government-Assisted primary and secondary schools in Tobago. Q: What is the email login information required to access the form? A: The email address to be entered is [email protected] and the password to be used is Applicant2024. Q: What is the procedure for applying if I am the Parent/Legal Guardian of more than one child? A: A separate application is required for each child. Q: If i am currently receiving Public Assistance, can I still apply? A: YES, Parents/Guardians of students currently in receipt of grants from the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services are especially encouraged to apply using documents verifying receipt of Government Assistance, such as stamped cheque or proof of receipt of social assistance or grant (not older than 3 months).
