Pictured Above: Angélique Parisot-Potter. Massy’s Executive Vice President of Business Integrity and Group General Counsel, Angélique Parisot-Potter, has resigned with immediate effect — nine (9) days after she raised concerns about the company’s executive leadership programme.
Speaking with Guardian Media on Wednesday (27th December 2023), Parisot-Potter said her resignation also means her exit from the company will not be a negotiated one. She added that her decision stemmed from claims being made about her motives and that she was waiting on a settlement from Massy. “This decision comes one month after I formally raised concerns within Massy and to which I have not received a response. I hope that this will allow me to contribute to the broader conversation on governance, particularly in publicly listed companies,” Parisot-Potter said in a phone interview. At the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 18th December 2023, Parisot-Potter took to the floor during the question and answer period and voiced concerns about the conglomerate’s executive leadership consultant, Florida-based Delphi Sphere Consulting. She told the company’s Board of Directors, chaired by Robert Riley, that she had written a 13-page letter to the company’s President and CEO, Gervase Warner, but had received no communication on the matter. Parisot-Potter alleged Delphi engages in bizarre rituals for executives at their leadership programme and the couple leading it appear to exert disproportionate influence over Massy’s executive team. She said the programme was a drain of scarce foreign exchange. Following the controversial AGM, Massy’s Directors issued a statement, saying it was appalled by Parisot-Potter‘s conduct and had initiated a disciplinary process against her. However, while dismissing her claims as “untrue” and “scandalous,” Massy said it initiated an independent process to look into her claims. Parisot-Potter was subsequently sent on paid administrative leave until 12th January 2024. According to Parisot-Potter at the AGM: “This is a matter of grave concern to shareholders because the couple leading the programme appear to exert disproportionate influence over our executive team. In the midst of a foreign exchange crisis, Massy cannot be spending scarce resources on highly dubious activities, and contracts awarded cannot be pushed through without prudent due process. This is not just a governance issue; it’s a blatant disregard for shareholder interests.” Parisot-Potter said Delphi’s programme involves frequent travel to Fort Myers, Florida, and weekly commitments for over a year. Massy is said to have spent up to US $1 million a year for Delphi’s services, which works out to US $10 million for the period identified by Parisot-Potter. More on this as it becomes available. A man and a woman are dead following a Police-involved shooting incident in Carapichaima early this morning (Thursday 28th December 2023). The deceased have been identified as Kern Fraser and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Shakeela Davis.
According to reports, Police Officers went to a house located at Waterloo Road, Carapichaima, around 4:00 AM, in relation to a shooting that occurred on 23rd December 2023. Upon arrival, the Officers entered the house and observed Fraser on a bed. Fraser allegedly pulled out a gun and fired at the Officers, who returned fire. After pulling off a blanket, however, they noticed a woman lying next to Fraser, also suffering from gunshot wounds. The couple were taken to the Chaguanas District Health Facility, where they succumbed to their injuries. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), throughout this outlook period, a dissipating frontal system, and its associated sub-tropical low pressure area, are expected to induce a weak, trailing, surface shear-line area, causing some low-level convergence across the Central Lesser Antilles, and at times, over this coming weekend, to the near-North of Tobago.
Generally, the precipitation that can occur over the outlook period, is most likely to be as a result of natural wind convergence at times, moisture advection, orographic lifting or localized heating and dynamics. In the event of a heavy shower or thunderstorm, winds can become gusty and street or flash flooding is likely in the vicinity. With the occurrence of any prolonged rainfall, or sharp and intense periods of precipitation, the risk of landslips or landslides becomes elevated in areas so prone. Generally mild to moderate concentrations of Saharan dust are present in the atmosphere at this time. From Saturday evening (30th December 2023), concentrations are expected to begin to increase to moderate/high, at least for the rest of this outlook period. Sensitive persons are advised to take the necessary precautions. The Met Office has provided the following 5-day weather outlook for T&T: Thursday (28th December 2023)
Friday (29th December 2023)
Saturday (30th December 2023)
Sunday (31st December 2023)
Monday (1st January 2024)
The Met Office notes that as an extended forecast goes further into the future, it is normal for the certainty to be reduced relative to the extended time period. Please continue to pay attention to the latest forecasts, alerts, and information issued by the TTMS. The Ministry of Works and Transport is advising the general public that authorization has been granted for LIGHT MOTOR VEHICLES ONLY to utilize the Priority Bus Route (PBR) from Mount Hope to Macoya, today (Wednesday 27th December 2023) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The Ministry’s announcement follows a heinous quadruple murder this afternoon on the Westbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, near the UWI traffic lights, resulting in a massive traffic pileup. Please be guided accordingly.

UPDATE 2: K-man 6ixx, who survived the shooting, was captured on cellphone video crying at the scene, where his friend J-man was killed on the Highway. J-man is said to be the second in command of the 6ixx gang, based at St. Paul Street in East Port-of-Spain.
UPDATE: Businesswoman Lana Sahadeo is said to be the common-law wife of Cpl. Antonio Pereira, a Detective assigned to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region I in Port-of-Spain.
Four (4) persons are dead following a brutal shooting incident this afternoon (Wednesday 27th December 2023) on the Westbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, near the UWI traffic lights. One of the deceased, who was struck by a stray bullet to the head, has been identified as Lana Sahadeo of Spring Village, Valsayn — a businesswoman said to be in her fifties and owner of Silver Spoons Eatery in Akal Trace.
According to reports, the main target of the gunmen was popular local artiste, K-man 6ixx, who managed to escape death today — making it the second time for this year he survived a hit. On 10th October 2023, K-man 6ixx survived an attempt on his life after the vehicle he was traveling in was riddled with bullets along Ariapita Avenue in Woodbrook. 28-year-old Kaveer Alvin Nandram, aka DJ Global, was killed during that shooting.
K-man 6ixx and others returned to the country today after performing in Barbados last night. A photo of the group was taken at the Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados before they left, and was posted to K-man's WhatsApp stories. The deadly shooting incident is said to have occurred shortly after the group arrived and subsequently left the Piarco International Airport. The men, who were driving along the Highway in a white Nissan Wingroad wagon, shortly before 2:00 PM, were ambushed and shot at by gunmen in a black SUV. CCTV footage of the shooting was circulated on social media which showed the wagon colliding with a barrier on the shoulder of the Highway, before flipping over the barrier and colliding with an advertising post. Several men alighted from the black SUV, as seen in CCTV footage, and opened fire on the victims. The driver of the wagon was shot multiple times at close range after he became trapped following the crash. Three (3) other men quickly fled from the wreckage and were chased and shot at by the gunmen. A white vehicle also pulled up moments later and a suspect with a rifle was seen firing shots at the men as they fled. One man was killed on the Highway itself; the second man was killed inside the wagon and the third man was killed outside a resident's house.
Reports state that the businesswoman, Lana Sahadeo, peeked through her window to ascertain what was the commotion, but was shot dead by a stray bullet. She was expected to leave Trinidad in a few days to go on a trip to Florida.
Crime scene investigations took more than six (6) hours to fully process the scene from the Highway leading into the yard of nearby homes where the victims were chased and repeatedly shot at by the gunmen. The Westbound lane of the Highway was also temporarily closed off for several hours, forcing the Ministry of Works and Transport to partially open the Priority Bus Route (PBR) to light motor vehicles only, from Mount Hope to Macoya, between the hours of 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Investigations are continuing. More on this as it becomes available. This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates.
