According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the exercise, conducted between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, included Officers of the Stolen Vehicles Unit, the Southern Division Task Force, and the Princes Town, Barrackpore and Ste. At another business place in the Indian Walk district, Officers seized the following:
These seizures follow the arrest of five (5) suspects on Monday (24th April 2023), also in the Princes Town district, and the recovery of several motor vehicles which were reported stolen. Meanwhile, in the South Western Division, Task Force, Penal CID and Municipal Police Officers conducted an ‘Operation Safe Streets’ anti-crime exercise between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Wednesday (25th April 2023), in the Penal district. During the exercise, three (3) persons, a 24-year-old, a 44-year-old and a 53-year-old, all of Penal, were arrested for possession of marijuana, while a fourth suspect was held for being in an enclosed premises for an unlawful purpose. A man was beaten with cutlasses and robbed of $30,750 in cash by eight (8) bandits who stormed his apartment in Penal last night (Wednesday 26th April 2023). The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Kareem Khan, a burger cart employee who works with Chadi Gyro and Burger Cart at Clarke Road Junction.
According to Khan, he arrived at home around 11:30 PM after working at the burger cart. As he entered his apartment, eight (8) men armed with cutlasses came in after him and held him up. The men proceeded to rob him of $3,750, which was the day's sales. They then took him to a bedroom, bound him with rope and hit him repeatedly with their cutlasses about his body, as they demanded more money. The bandits found and opened a plastic box in the bedroom and stole $27,000, which Khan had saved while working in the burger cart over the past three (3) years. They also took a quantity of jewellery. Officers of the South Western Division Task Force and Penal CID visited the scene. PC Khaleel is investigating. More on this as it becomes available. TMZ is confirming this morning (Thursday 27th April 2023) that Jerry Springer, one of the most influential and controversial figures in TV history, has died at age seventy-nine (79). A family spokesperson said Springer had been diagnosed with cancer a few months ago, and this week he took a turn for the worse. He died at his home in the Chicago area. His show was known for its outrageous guests who usually got into crazy fights as the audience cheered, “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!” Springer became a worldwide sensation with his show, becoming so popular in the late 90s, that it even topped Oprah Winfrey's show in several cities. 'Springer' finally went off the air in 2018. He made one more run in TV, with his courtroom show, “Judge Jerry,” which ran for a total of three (3) seasons. Springer’s last TV appearance came last season on “The Masked Singer,” where he performed as ‘The Beetle,’ singing a Frank Sinatra classic.
He is survived by his daughter, Katie Springer and his sister, Evelyn. RIP. Moments later, she heard loud explosions and saw their bloody bodies lying in the yard. The women of the house, including Bajnath, Kumar’s wife and two (2) daughters, ages twenty-seven (27) and sixteen (16), and Hosein’s wife, Kimberly Dean, were not injured during the terrifying incident. When I go to come out of bed, they said, ‘Not the ladies, where the men and them?, we looking for the men.’ My son, son-in-law, and my grandson...they brought them downstairs. They say ‘go fast, allyuh want me to beat allyuh?’ The grandmother continued, “They brought them downstairs and we heard gunshots. I was thinking that they shoot in the air to get them frightened. I didn’t know they were killing them. When my daughter peeped out by the louvres she said, ‘Mammy they dead. Only blood in the yard.’” Bajnath said she has no idea why criminals targeted her family.
