Five (5) ambulances responded to the scene of a crash on the first day of school this morning (Monday 5th September 2022), where twelve (12) children and a driver were injured. They were taken to the Couva District Health Facility and the San Fernando General Hospital.
According to reports, a private school bus was transporting the children during rainy conditions around 8:00 AM this morning when it overturned along the Southern Main Road in Savonetta, Claxton Bay. The children were said to be pupils mainly of the Esperanza Presbyterian School.
The children and driver suffered mainly cuts, bruises and physical trauma to the chest and back.
