This Carnival if you are caught with a glass bottle, you are liable on summary conviction to a fine of one thousand dollars ($1,000) and imprisonment for six (6) months. The Government first announced the ban on all glass bottles in early February.
The ban officially goes into effect from 4am on Carnival Monday (24th February 2020) and expires at Midnight on Carnival Tuesday. According to Section 3 of The Carnival (Prohibition of Glass Bottles) Regulations, 2020: (1) No person, other than an authorised person, shall have a glass bottle with him, in or within the vicinity of, a Carnival event in any public place during the period of Carnival.
See The Carnival (Prohibition of Glass Bottles) Regulations, 2020 below for further information.
