Effective from Monday 17th December 2018, Marc Street in Chaguanas will be closed to all traffic in order to accommodate Street Vendors and Shoppers for Christmas. No vending will be allowed on the Chaguanas Main Road itself.
In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion, traffic heading East along Eleanor Street (at the back of the Chaguanas Market) will be allowed to turn North onto the Old Southern Main Road and onto the Chaguanas Main Road. There will also be an increase in Police Officers (both in uniform and plain clothes) to ensure the safety of both Shoppers and Vendors. Read a brief statement below by the Mayor of Chaguanas, Gopaul Boodhan. We understand the plight of the people who have lost their jobs and we are willing to assist these people but we don’t want them to break the law and we are guided by whatever decision the Police is willing to take to ensure the safety and security of Burgesses and Shoppers.
