In a Media Release today (Friday 27th May 2022), the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said, “Operational units continue in their dedicated efforts to take illegal firearms off the streets, with the arrest of three (3) persons and the seizure of a pistol, a firearm component, two (2) magazines, and quantities of ammunition and camouflage clothing in the Western Division (WD), yesterday.”
According to the TTPS, the seizures and arrests occurred when Officers of the Western Division Task Force and the Canine Unit conducted an anti-crime exercise in the Diego Martin district, between 2am and 7am, on Thursday (26th May 2022). During the exercise, Officers executed a search warrant at the Richplain Road home of two (2) suspects. The search resulted in Officers finding one (1) P80 pistol, the ammunition, the firearm component and five (5) articles of camouflage clothing. The two (2) suspects who were at the house at the time of the exercise were arrested in connection with the finds. The same party of Officers then proceeded to Lanse Mitan Road, Carenage, where they found one (1) article of camouflage clothing at the home of a male suspect. The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Remy, Supt. Henry, ASP Brown and supervised by Sgt. (Ag.) Carmona and Cpl (Ag.) Khan, all of the WD. We are a small operation.
