Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, has confirmed to Guardian Media earlier this week that a fifth person has died in T&T from Swine Flu. The latest victim is a woman who was just 16 weeks pregnant.
Minister Deyalsingh also said that apart from the five (5) confirmed deaths there were other fatalities which were suspected to have been caused by H1N1 (Swine Flu). However, these cases are still unconfirmed as blood samples have been sent for testing.
The Health Ministry recently confirmed that an additional 20,000 Influenza Vaccines have arrived for distribution to various Health Facilities across T&T.
Minister Deyalsingh is urging members of the public to get the Influenza Vaccine as he has noticed a decline in interest over the past few weeks. This may have been due to a recent segment ran by a Media House on the side effects of the Vaccine on pregnant women. [Source] We are a small operation.
