The Ministry of Education postponed a meeting relating to the physical re-opening of schools for Standard 5 students until next week, so they can get a better picture of the state of COVID-19 infections in the country. The meeting was previously scheduled to take place today (Monday 29th March 2021) between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. In a News Release today, the Ministry of Education said, “However, based on the movement of COVID-19 numbers over the last two (2) weeks, the Ministry of Health requested that the meeting be held next week in order to analyze the data relating to positive COVID-19 cases this week, which can then better inform the discussions.“ Trinidad and Tobago has seen a dramatic spike in new COVID-19 cases, particularly over the past week. Term II recently ended for Forms 4 - 6 students in secondary schools and the decisions surrounding the re-opening of Term III on 12th April 2021 will affect both secondary schools as well as Standard 5 students in primary schools.
