Tickets for various traffic offences, such as speeding and breaking red lights, will be mailed to offenders later this year according to Attorney General, Faris Al-Rawi. Al-Rawi made the announcement recently at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Port-of-Spain West at the Cascadia Hotel in St Ann’s.
Works and Transport Minister, Rohan Sinanan, also confirmed recently that the mailing of traffic tickets will take effect “by year-end or sooner.” Five (5) new Spot Speed Cameras are set to be deployed along the Uriah Butler Highway and Solomon Hochoy Highway. The Ministry of Works and Transport will also oversee the deployment of 35 additional Red Light Enforcement Cameras. At the Rotary Club meeting, Al-Rawi noted that the software to enable this new ticketing system has been purchased and tested - and all Driver’s Permits and registration information have already been digitized. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the Licensing Authority, the Judiciary and TTPost are all ready as soon as the system launches. Al-Rawi also announced that very soon, people would be able to pay their traffic tickets and pay for their Driver’s Permits online. You can pay online for any service in Trinidad and Tobago using your credit card or your debit card or a cash card, in the comfort of your home in your pyjamas, or lack thereof, at 2am in the morning.
