An employee of Scotiabank in Princes Town has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the branch to remain closed until further notice. The employee has been in quarantine since exhibiting symptoms and is now under the medical supervision of the Ministry of Health. Trinidad and Tobago has seen a recent surge in COVID-19 cases with the Ministry reporting a total of 1,384 confirmed cases as of this morning (Wednesday 26th August 2020). 1,177 of those are active cases and a staggering 454 have been reported since Sunday morning. According to a Press Release issued by Scotiabank this afternoon, employees at the branch are in the process of being tested and are self-isolating for the stipulated fourteen (14) days. Scotiabank Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Stephen Bagnarol, noted the following: Our top priority is the health and safety of our employees and customers. We have taken immediate action and will work with the authorities, including the Ministry of Health to ensure we adhere to the measures prescribed. The Princes Town branch will undergo stringent deep cleaning and sanitization before re-opening to safeguard the health and wellbeing of employees and customers.
