UPDATE: Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith denies any forceful ‘raid’ of Radio Jaagriti took place, as was falsely reported by the Media and insists it was a peaceful execution of a Search Warrant.
Maharaj was indeed photographed standing side-by-side with Inspector Stanley from TTPS during their visit at Radio Jaagriti.
Police executed a Search Warrant and raided the offices of Radio Jaagriti on Thursday 18th April 2019 in search of a video recording in which Secretary General of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha, Satnarayan Maharaj, allegedly made disparaging remarks about Tobagoians and Tobago culture.
According to Newsday: Maharaj was seen in a video captured on a television progamme allegedly accusing Tobagonians of not working, racing goats and crabs, targeting white women on beaches and robbing and raping them.
Maharaj claims about nine (9) Police Officers descended on the Radio/TV Station around 11am on Thursday but refused to show the actual Search Warrant.
