The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has published a scathing statement from Prime Minister Keith Rowley this morning (Wednesday 25th November 2020) regarding the current illegal Venezuelan immigration situation in Trinidad and Tobago. The Prime Minister’s statement comes after public backlash over the recent handling of several Venezuelans who entered our borders illegally, including children. They were then deported back to Venezuela in two (2) pirogues during bad weather. However, a Court ruled they must return to Trinidad. In his statement, the Prime Minister blasts Secretary-General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, calling him “misguided” and stating that the OAS is responsible for triggering and fueling the current Venezuelan situation.
