UPDATE: The Prime Minister started the Press Conference at approximately 2:50pm instead of 2:30pm. The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has announced that Prime Minister Keith Rowley will host a Post-Cabinet Press Conference at 2:30pm this afternoon (Thursday 28th January 2021) at the Diplomatic Centre in St. Ann’s. No indication was given as to which topic(s) will be addressed by the Prime Minister today. Just yesterday Prime Minister Rowley was in Parliament to defend National Security Minister Stuart Young against a motion of ‘No Confidence’ brought on by Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar. According to Persad-Bissessar, the Prime Minister abstained from voting for or against the motion yesterday, raising speculation that he is distancing himself from Minister Young’s actions regarding the repatriation of T&T Nationals. The Prime Minister may seek to clarify this matter today. Earlier this week the Ministry of Education announced its plans for the phased physical re-opening of schools beginning on 8th February 2021. Prime Minister Rowley may address this topic as well if he has any further information to share with the public. Watch the live stream of the Press Conference below when it begins at 2:30pm.
