Cocaine worth approximately half a million dollars was seized by Officers of the Northern Division Task Force, Area South, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Aranguez district yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 24th April, 2024).
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the exercise was conducted between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM on Wednesday, during which Officers proceeded to a courier shipping company in the Aranguez district, relative to a suspicious package received. A search was conducted at the premises and a total of seventeen (17) brown-coloured packets containing cocaine were found hidden inside a popcorn machine. The drugs weighed a total of 360 grammes and has an estimated street value of TT $501,811. In a separate exercise, this time in the South Western Division, Task Force Officers conducted an exercise in the Guapo district between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM on Wednesday. Several searches were conducted which resulted in 1.5 pounds of marijuana being discovered in a bushy area. Two (2) suspects were also arrested in connection with various offences, including possession of a weapon. Investigations are ongoing into the above matters. We are a small operation.
