UPDATE (1pm): A roof has blown off on Wrightson Road in Port-of-Spain.
UPDATE (12:45pm): As expected, afternoon showers and Thunderstorms are developing across the Northern and Western halves of Trinidad. Locally heavy rainfall may trigger Street/Flash Flooding and be accompanied by gusty winds. Lightning may cause voltage dips/outages (via @TTWeatherCenter).
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has forecast a medium chance (40 - 60%) of heavy showers and Thunderstorm activity for this afternoon (Tuesday 22nd October 2019) for Trinidad and Tobago (moreso for Trinidad). This follows heavy rainfall in parts of Tobago and North-West Trinidad yesterday, which resulted in Flash Flooding at the Maritime Roundabout in Barataria as well as in several other areas.
The Met Office advises there can be moderate impacts (possible injury, minor damage to property, income earning disrupted for a couple hours to a day, minor disruptions with a couple communities affected) due to Street/Flash Flooding and gusty winds. According to their Common Alerting Protocol Risk Matrix, this risk assessment is reflected in a GREEN LEVEL RISK. While an Adverse Weather Alert will not be issued for Green Level, the public is still advised to be vigilant as these temporary disruptions can cause some discomfort.
This is a developing story - stay tuned for updates.
