UPDATE (21/01/20): The Met Office has extended the Alert until 10am on Wednesday 22nd January 2020. There have been confirmed reports that sea conditions continue to be agitated around Tobago and to the North and East of Trinidad. While the low level winds have reduced in intensity, waves are still likely to reach heights between 2.5m and 3.5m in open waters. Long-period northerly swells are also forecast to continue affecting nearshore activity around Tobago and Northern Trinidad.
For the second time in eleven (11) days, the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued a Hazardous Seas Alert (Yellow Level). This new Alert extends from 8pm on Sunday 19th January until 3pm on Tuesday 21st January 2020.
According to the Met Office, strong low level winds are expected to agitate sea conditions, mainly around Tobago and to the North and East of Trinidad. Waves are likely to reach heights between 2.5m and 3.5m in open waters. Long-period northerly swells are also forecast to affect nearshore activity around Tobago and Northern Trinidad.
