The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) said on Monday (27th September 2021) it is closely monitoring the Atlantic where Hurricane Sam (Category 3) is churning the ocean just East of the Lesser Antilles. Sam is expected to continue to move Northwestward but steer away from any direct path to the island chain. The Met Office said, however, an even “sharper eye” is being kept on two (2) systems near the Central Eastern and far Eastern Atlantic. These systems show potential for increasing development over the next five (5) days and will be continued to be closely monitored as they track in a Westward fashion. The Met Office noted that the normal TTMS protocol is that once a system of interest has reached 40W, the TTMS will issue an official statement on the system, but its Hurricane Monitor is “in action all the time.” This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates.
