UPDATE (2:30pm): The Met Office just extended the Adverse Weather Alert again, this time by thirty (30) minutes. It is now scheduled to end at 8:30pm tonight, instead of 8pm. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), the moisture associated with the trailing leg of Potential Tropical Cyclone Two (PTC2), together with the resulting Northward modulation of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is still with us and could produce some thunderstorms with potential impacts for Trinidad and Tobago, and as such an Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) remains in effect.
However, the TTMS has extended the Alert by two (2) hours, which was supposed to end at 6pm tonight (Wednesday 29th June 2022), but will now remain in effect until 8pm. The Met Office notes that isolated thunderstorms have been and continues to be observed across parts of Trinidad and Tobago due to low level convergence associated with the passage of a strong Tropical Wave (PTC2). Heavy showers/thunderstorms are expected to continue intermittently over the period. These thunderstorms can produce intense rainfall of over 25 mm. Street and/or flash flooding are possible in areas so prone, causing minor traffic disruptions. Electrical discharges are also likely. The threat of gusty winds will also be present. These wind gusts may be brief, but are capable of breaking tree branches, displacing unsecured roofs and loose outdoor objects, and can even topple over unhealthy trees. Instructions:
