The Ministry of Health held a virtual Press Conference at 11am this morning (Saturday 30th October 2021) to update the public on the latest developments with COVID-19 in Trinidad and Tobago. Below are the key points discussed today, courtesy of TTT Live Online: - Full service (with consumption of alcohol on premises ONLY) will resume at restaurants and other facilities operating within the Safe Zones from Monday 1st November 2021. Capacity remains at 50%. - While Trinidad and Tobago has crossed the 600,000 threshold of completed COVID-19 vaccinations, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh is expressing concern over the slowing down of persons coming in for their first COVID-19 shot. He is appealing to the unvaccinated population to make vaccination part of their civic duty. - As of this morning, fifty-one (51) out of fifty-four (54) beds in the parallel healthcare system in Trinidad are occupied by COVID-19 patients. Of those fifty-one (51) patients in the system, forty-eight (48) are not fully vaccinated. - As of this morning, there are nineteen (19) patients across the traditional Accident & Emergency (A&E) departments who require immediate transfer to Hospitals in the parallel healthcare system. Seven (7) of these nineteen (19) patients require Intensive Care Unit (ICU) care. - Principal Medical Officer of Institutions, Dr. Maryam Abdool-Richards, noted that persons continue to come to A&E departments in a severe and critical medical state, requiring immediate ICU care (ventilatory support) for COVID-19. She said the average number of patients requiring ICU care is between five (5) and seven (7) patients. - The Trinidad and Tobago Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance (TTNCDA) has, with the support of PAHO, launched a COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy hotline, 607-VAXX. This virtual call centre is staffed by Doctors. If you missed the Press Conference, you can watch it below in its entirety. This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates.
