The Ministry of Health is advising that Trinidad and Tobago continues to experience a high public uptake of COVID-19 vaccines. In a Media Release on Friday night (28th May 2021), the Ministry said, “This fact, in addition to the current vaccine availability, means that some persons may be experiencing challenges in securing an appointment to be vaccinated.”
The Regional Health Authorities have indicated that most appointments are already filled. “This indicates that members of the public have been able to book appointments via the phone and WhatsApp system, but the demand remains extremely high.” The Ministry notes that soon, Trinidad and Tobago will have access to more World Health Organization (WHO) approved vaccines and hence, there will be an increased number of vaccine appointment slots. Additionally, the Ministry is considering the transition to a ‘first-come, first-served’ approach for the administration of COVID-19 vaccines in the future. Members of the public are asked to continue to be patient and to take a WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine once it is made available to them. We are a small operation.
