UPDATE (18/02/19): Speaking with Newsday, Gary Griffith made the following statement in regards to the current Red Alert:
The Red Alert will stay in effect until I am convinced that it warrants it being reduced to Amber and the way that it is right now, it may very well stay until Ash Wednesday.
In response to ongoing gang activities and homicides in T&T, Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith has raised the Policing Alert from ‘Amber’ to ‘Red’ with immediate effect.
Law-abiding citizens can expect some inconvenience during intensified operations across T&T in order to deal with criminal activities and to maintain law and order.
