Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, has taken some heat on Social Media for appearing on stage during Buju Banton’s “I Am Legend” concert over the Easter weekend. However, Griffith is fighting back - calling his detractors “immature” and “ignorant.” Griffith also insists that Buju requested him on stage.
On Saturday 20th April 2019, Buju’s hotel room at the Hilton Trinidad was searched by members of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit (OCIU) but failed to find anything illegal. Buju then took to Social Media to question the validity of the search. Hours later, Griffith met with Buju to assure him that the rest of his visit would be incident-free.
Addressing concerns about taking the stage at Buju’s concert, Griffith made the following statement: Had I not done this, relations between both countries could have been severely affected.
