A statement released on Monday (26th April 2021) by Catholic Media Services Limited said that the Principal of St. Benedict's College in San Fernando, Gregory Quan Kep, was informed by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) on Friday (16th April 2021) that the parent of one of its Form Five students has tested positive for COVID-19. The CMO’s Office requested the dates the student was on the compound as well as the names and contact information of all the students with whom he would have had direct contact since 4th April 2021. The student was last on the compound on 15th April 2021. The statement noted that immediate staff on the compound was informed, as well as the teachers of the three (3) classes that the student attended. Those students were advised to self-quarantine by the Principal. St. Benedict’s College was sanitized at 6pm on 16th April 2021. On Saturday (24th April 2021), the Ministry of Health and the CMO Office confirmed that the student had tested positive for COVID-19. The Ministry is expected to test students, starting with those closest to him.
