Pictured Above: Lisa Marie Presley. Singer and recording artist, Lisa Marie Presley, who was the only child of Elvis Presley, died on Thursday (12th January 2023). She was fifty-four (54). Her mother, Priscilla Presley, said in a statement, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
Ms. Presley was hospitalized earlier on Thursday, her mother said in a Facebook post. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said emergency responders were dispatched to a call in the 5,000 block of Normandy Drive in Agoura Hills, California, at 10:37 AM local time for a cardiac arrest. The woman was not breathing at the time and after receiving CPR, showed signs of life and was taken to a local Hospital at 11:17 AM. Ms. Presley and her mother attended the Golden Globes earlier this week, where Austin Butler won best performance by an actor in a motion picture drama for his role as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in the biopic “Elvis.” Mr. Butler thanked Priscilla Presley and her daughter in his acceptance speech and paid homage to Elvis Presley himself as an “icon and a rebel.” Born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968, Lisa Marie Presley was just nine (9) years old when her father Elvis died. She would later go on to inherit his Graceland estate. Ms. Presley released three (3) studio albums, but her career as a musician was perhaps overshadowed by her famous parents and her personal life. She married Michael Jackson in 1994, which was a short-lived union that was frequently featured in the tabloids. The couple made headlines at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 1994 when they kissed on stage. She appeared in MJ’s music video for the track “You Are Not Alone,” which was his first song to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She later married Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage, and musician and producer Michael Lockwood. She was also previously married to Danny Keough. Ms. Presley is survived by her mother and three (3) daughters — actress Riley Keough, Finley Aaron Love Lockwood and Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood. A fourth child, Benjamin Keough, died by suicide in 2020 at the age of twenty-seven (27). Stalin, a 5-time Calypso Monarch, turned eighty-one (81) on Republic Day (24th September 2022).
Calliste had been ailing for some time. He suffered a stroke in 2014 which affected both his speech and movement on the right side of his body. However, his memory and mental faculties remained intact. At his 80th birthday celebration last year, Calliste sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and verses from his popular calypso hits. Last year, Lord Street in San Fernando was renamed ‘Dr. Leroy Calliste Street.’ Calliste, however, was not well enough to attend the celebration. [Source: TMZ] Machel Montana’s mother, Elizabeth ‘Lady’ Montano, launched the biography she wrote for Machel, titled “King of Soca,” last night (Tuesday 26th July 2022) at an event and exhibition held at GM Labs on St. Vincent Street, Port-of-Spain. Host Maxine Williams told the gathering at the event last night, “The reason that we were able to see this masterpiece put together is because ‘Lady’ has always been a collector, she has meticulously collected every piece of memorabilia, every clipping, every outfit over the 40 years.” The exhibition featured several moments in Machel’s longstanding career, including the iconic 1986 costume he wore for what was his breakout hit “Too Young to Soca,” as well as his 2014 Soul Train Award. Speaking at the event, Elizabeth Montano told the audience, “All of who have gathered here and what you are seeing as you look around is a reflection of what is in the book. Tonight, we are bringing to life, the King of Soca.” She said the book, which features seven (7) chapters, was started on 24th November 1974, when Machel was declared stillborn. “When life was brought into him, I knew there was something special,” she said. Addressing the gathering, Machel said he would love people to read the book to get to know him. “I don’t hold on to any defined edges, so I love to be interpreted by people in their own way, however they see it and however they see it fit and sometimes it is entertainment to me what you think about me,” Machel said. “So, I am not really worried about whether she got it right, I know ‘Lady’ knows the stories and I know she knows the stories that even I myself can’t remember,” he added. Machel described his mother as the “ultimate insider.” While recounting stories from his past and performing a few songs, camp-fire style, Machel said he should save some stories for his own book — hinting his official autobiography may be coming sometime in the future. Several guests were in attendance at last night’s event, including Education Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, Tourism Minister Randall Mitchell, Trade Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon, Port-of-Spain Mayor Joel Martinez and Guardian Media Managing Director Dr. Karrian Hepburn Malcolm.

Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky are officially parents, having welcomed a baby boy a few days ago on 13th May 2022 in Los Angeles, according to official records. The new baby is the first child for both Rihanna and A$AP. The name of the baby boy is unknown at this time.
The couple announced they were expecting back in January with a NYC photo shoot. Rihanna was seen proudly showing off her baby bump throughout her pregnancy, wearing several designer looks. A$AP was arrested just last month in a surprise bust as the couple's private plane touched down at LAX. Law enforcement sources told TMZ at the time that the bust was in connection to an incident where the rapper is accused of firing shots at an acquaintance, grazing his hand. Nonetheless, Rihanna continued to support A$AP, even attending one of his shows — cheering for him backstage just a week after the arrest. Congrats to the happy couple! [Source: TMZ] A 23-year-old man, identified as Isaiah Lee, is being held on $30,000 bail after a terrifying physical attack on legendary comedian Dave Chappelle. The incident happened last night (Tuesday 3rd May 2022) at Chappelle’s Hollywood Bowl performance — part of the “Netflix Is A Joke” festival. The brazen attack came only a month and a few days after another comedian was attacked on stage — Chris Rock — with the infamous slap delivered by Will Smith. According to reports, a man in the audience somehow got on stage and manhandled Chappelle, tackling him violently and slamming him on the hard stage. The attacker pointed a gun at Chappelle as he rushed him. However, Police later confirmed the gun was not real — it was a replica of a semi-automatic with a real knife attached to it. Chappelle, therefore, was in real danger during the violent attack. Serious questions are being raised today as to how the man managed to not only get past security to rush the stage, but also metal detectors to get into the venue. An eyewitness told TMZ the attacker got up and started running as a swarm of people went after him. He was running around the screen on the stage when, as the eyewitness put it, “the mob caught up with him and beat the crap out of him, stomping on him.” The eyewitness said actor Jamie Foxx and rapper Busta Rhymes, who were both present for the show, got a few licks in as well.
The attacker was injured and taken by stretcher to an ambulance and is currently at Hospital. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. Chappelle was okay enough to continue with his act following the attack, telling the audience, “I don't know if that was part of the show. I grabbed the back of that n***** head, his hair was spongy, absorbent.” Chris Rock just happened to be one of Chappelle‘s special guests last night. Following the attack, Chris walked on stage, hugged his friend Chappelle and said, “Was that Will Smith?” The audience erupted in laughter. This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates. [Source: TMZ] The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced in a statement on Friday (8th April 2022) that actor Will Smith will not be allowed to attend the Academy Awards for the next ten (10) years, as a result of slapping Chris Rock on 27th March 2022. “The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards," Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson said in a statement on Friday. The decision was made during a Board of Governors meeting held earlier in the day in Los Angeles. The meeting, initially scheduled for 18th April 2022, was expedited after Smith announced his resignation from the Academy last week. His resignation means that he is no longer part of the Academy's voting body, but it does not prevent the Oscar winner from being nominated in the future. Smith issued a quick, concise statement on his ban from the Oscars for the next decade. “I accept and respect the Academy's decision,” the actor said in a statement to CNN. The Academy's statement added, “The 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community who did incredible work this past year; however, those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. Smith exhibit on stage.” “During our telecast, we did not adequately address the situation in the room,” the letter went on to state. “For this, we are sorry. This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers and our Academy family around the world, and we fell short — unprepared for the unprecedented.” Typically, the previous year's Best Actor winner presents the current year's Best Actress award (and the reigning Best Actress presents the Best Actor trophy). With Smith's ban, the Oscars will have to break that tradition. In its letter, the Academy expressed “deep gratitude to Mr. Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances.” “This action we are taking today in response to Will Smith's behavior is a step toward a larger goal of protecting the safety of our performers and guests, and restoring trust in the Academy,” the letter concluded. “We also hope this can begin a time of healing and restoration for all involved and impacted.” This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates. Tony went on to say he “didn't want to start the show like that!” adding, “You gonna hit my motherf##king brother because your b###h gave you a side-eye?”
Tony, 47, went on to note that there's “a lot of Rock brothers.” Chris, 57, is the oldest of seven (7) siblings. His brothers include Tony, Andre, Brian, Kenny, and Jordan, and he has a sister named Andi. The comedian's half-brother, Charles, died in 2006.
