Shortly before 7am, Nazir Mohammed was alerted by his Mother-in-Law that a Caiman was in his front yard trying to attack his dog ‘Garroth.’ Mohammed rushed to his dog’s rescue and used a piece of wood to save Garroth from being killed by the dangerous Caiman.
I came outside and saw the dog barking at the Caiman. The Caiman was just about three or four feet away from. I take a piece of wood and push it down in the corner and the neighbour next door came cross and assisted me in tying it up.
After contacting the St. Margaret’s Police Station, a Game Warden and a Wildlife Biologist visited Mohammed’s home and captured the male Caiman, which will be released in the wild.

The Caiman’s belly was large at the time of capture, indicating it may have recently eaten a small animal. Mohammed recalls hearing the neighbour’s puppy crying and since then the puppy is missing.
He has observed Caimans before in the Canal near his home in Ramsaroop Trace, Macaulay Village, but this was the first time one entered his yard. [Source: CNC3] We are a small operation.
