UPDATE: Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), Ancil Dennis, is currently in home isolation for fourteen (14) days following his exposure to a primary contact of a recent COVID-19 positive case on Good Friday (2nd April 2021). The Chief Secretary has since tested negative for COVID-19. The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) announced at approximately 9:50am this morning (Tuesday 6th April 2021) that Prime Minister Keith Rowley has tested positive for COVID-19. Prime Minister Rowley has been in Tobago for a number of days for Easter. The OPM stated, “The Prime Minister began experiencing flu-like symptoms yesterday evening and was subsequently tested for COVID-19. Dr. Rowley is in isolation and is under medical supervision.” Prime Minister Rowley was scheduled to take his first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine later today in Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago continues to experience a dramatic spike in COVID-19 cases over the past two (2) weeks, with over 200 new cases reported within that time.
