The Ministry of Health revealed in its daily 4pm update this afternoon (Tuesday 11th May 2021) that there are are a record-breaking nine (9) new COVID-19 related deaths in Trinidad and Tobago, plus 348 additional cases. This represents a massive 251.52% increase in reported cases from yesterday. This is now the most deaths ever reported in a single day since the start of the Pandemic. These new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.
The latest deaths are as follows:
There have been 2,978 new cases and fifty-five (55) deaths so far in the month of May. The Ministry reported ninety-nine (99) new cases yesterday along with four (4) deaths. The country’s death toll has increased to 224. T&T’s total positive cases now jumps to 13,802, with 4,078 being active cases. A total of 9,500 patients have recovered from the virus to date. 3,318 persons are in home self-isolation and there are 425 persons in total at State quarantine facilities. A total of 60,487 persons have been vaccinated with a first dose and 1,179 with a second dose. The Ministry states that the number of positive cases reported reflects the samples taken during the period 8th - 10th May 2021 and not the last 24 hours. In its latest update, the Ministry notes that thirty-two (32) persons have been discharged from public health facilities and there have been eighty-seven (87) recovered community cases. The Ministry also notes that there are currently 335 COVID-19 positive patients being treated at Hospitals:
Among the patients at Couva, fifteen (15) are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and forty-eight (48) are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU). There are also currently seventy-seven (77) COVID-19 positive patients in step-down/transition facilities across T&T. This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates.
