The Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Office has just upgraded its Riverine Flood Alert to a rare Red Level. An Adverse Weather Alert (Orange Level) is also in effect.
The upgraded Riverine Flood Alert (Red Level) is in effect for an entire week - from 6pm on Friday 19th October to 12pm on Friday 26th October 2018. River levels have exceeded threshold levels and some have already over-spilled their banks. As additional rainfall is expected, river levels will remain at an elevated level over the next several days. The MET Office is advising citizens to be on the alert for rising river levels and possible over-spill. Do not take unnecessary risks. There is a very high potential for major damage to property and infrastructure and for mulitple lives to be lost. It is advised to stay indoors until the all-clear is given by Government Officials.
