The Ministry of Health revealed in its 6pm update this evening (Thursday 27th August 2020) that there are forty-seven (47) additional cases of COVID-19 in Trinidad and Tobago. The Ministry reported eighteen (18) cases this morning, bringing today’s total to sixty-five (65). There were a record-breaking 159 reported cases yesterday. T&T’s confirmed cases now jumps to 1,476, with 867 being active cases. The Ministry stated these forty-seven (47) positive cases are from samples taken during the period 19th August to 26th August 2020. Therefore, this figure is NOT representative of the positive cases over the last 24 hours only. The Ministry notes that of these forty-seven (47) persons, twenty (20) are T&T Nationals and twenty-seven (27) are Non-Nationals who are currently quarantined at the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force (TTDF) site. These individuals pose no risk of spread to the population of Trinidad and Tobago. This brings the total number of Non-Nationals testing positive for COVID-19 during phase two to forty-four (44). Notably, the other seventeen (17) Non-Nationals were previously admitted through the parallel health care system. All established protocols have been implemented.
