At today’s Press Conference (Saturday 29th May 2021), hosted by Prime Minister Keith Rowley, Chief Medial Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram confirmed that Trinidad and Tobago has recorded 100 cases of the Brazilian (P1) variant.
Dr. Parasram said since December 2020, 504 samples were sent to the UWI laboratory for testing and 100 cases were confirmed to be from the Brazilian variant and nine (9) cases from the U.K (B117) variant. A latest case of the U.K variant is a T&T National but the person does not seem to have a link to repatriated Nationals. That case is now under investigation.
