Following threats to bar owners from both the Prime Minister and Minister of Health over this weekend, the Minister of National Security has just announced that all bars will now be restricted to operate from 8am to 8pm daily, instead of 10pm. The Public Health Regulations will be updated to reflect these changes.
Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, made the announcement at this morning’s Press Conference held by the Ministry of Health. Minister Young noted that this is just a first warning to bar owners and patrons and if persons continue to disregard public health guidelines, stricter measures will be implemented - including the re-closing of all bars. Minister Young also reminded these bar owners that there are not supposed to be more than 25 persons gathering inside or outside of these establishments. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) as well as the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force (TTDF) will be involved in ensuring that the law is being adhered to. If you are found inside a bar after 8pm from tonight, you will be charged.
