Telecommunications Services of Trinidad & Tobago (TSTT) denied reports last month of massive job cuts on the horizon, however, the company has now sent an official letter to the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU) which outlines the job positions that it sees as “redundant” for its new business model. Based on this letter, hundreds of workers could be sent home before the end of the year.
It is important to note that the Union still believes that the total retrenchment of workers could reach 2,000 - not just hundreds. TSTT is expected to make a statement on Wednesday 13th November 2018. The Union has invited employees to a mass-membership meeting at 5pm on the same day. Watch the video below from CNC3’s Ria Rambally for further details.
