UPDATE: A Riverine Flood Alert (Orange Level) is currently in effect until 2pm on Tuesday 20th November 2018.
The Meteorological Office of Trinidad & Tobago has just issued an Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) for Monday 19th November 2018 from 3am until 8pm.
There is a 70% chance of heavy showers and Thunderstorms occurring at times during the period. Street/Flash Flooding, Landslips and Gusty Winds are possible near heavy showers and Thunderstorms. This activity is associated with enhanced Low-Level Convergence and it is possible for conditions to become intense at times. The Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Office has just extended the current Riverine Flood Alert (Orange Level) by another 20 hours, until 2pm on Saturday 17th November 2018.
Many areas of Central and Southern Trinidad are still under flood waters. Data from the Water Resources Agency (WRA) shows that river levels are now gradually decreasing, but still above threshold levels. Telecommunications Services of Trinidad & Tobago (TSTT) has confirmed that over 500 workers (both Junior and Senior) were given Retrenchment Notices today, Thursday 15th November 2018.
This action comes after an official letter was sent to the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU) earlier this week by TSTT. TSTT has made the following statement regarding the Retrenchment Notices: Today, Thursday 15 November, 2018, TSTT executed on a critical phase in its organizational transformation.

In the previous financial year, TSTT recorded an operating loss of $32.5M and the contributing factors that led to that performance continued in the six months of the current financial year to September 2018 where the company recorded a loss of $478.8M.

In light of the current Riverine Flood Alert, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) is urging citizens to ‘Get Ready and Stay Ready’ by implementing the safety measures outlined below.
1. Place sandbags around your property, especially if your area or property has a history of flooding.

As Trinidad & Tobago continues to be under an Adverse Weather Alert, several areas have already began experiencing Flash Flooding and Riverine Flooding.
