Amazon Prime - the shipping and entertainment membership program - will cost you 20% more from May 2018. Effective May 11, 2018 all new Prime members will have to pay US $119 per year - that’s a 20% hike from the current fee of US $99/year. If you’re an existing Prime member, you haven’t been spared either - the same US $119/year with take effect from June 16, 2018 with your Prime renewal. The last time Amazon raised its Prime fee was in 2014, moving from US $79/year to its current US $99/year. 2018 will make it a US $40 hike in four (4) years. It’s also interesting to note that just today, Amazon reported its earnings has more than doubled from last year.
