UPDATE: The Ministry has provided further details about the full re-opening of schools in April.
Minister of Education, Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, announced at a Press Conference at 12pm today (Monday 28th March 2022) that ALL schools (ECCE, primary, secondary and tertiary) will be fully re-opened on Tuesday 19th April 2022. This will be the start of Term III of Academic Year 2021/2022.
The Minister said the Government made the decision based on the advice of the Ministry of Health. She also noted that teachers will NOT be mandated to provide synchronous online classes for students who are not in school, saying, “All students are expected to come out to school.” The Ministry of Education has provided guidelines to all staff and students, as well as visitors to school compounds, who must adhere to the following:
In support of this, the Ministry has ensured that schools are supplied with the necessary cleaning solutions and sanitizers and have designated quarantine areas for staff and students who may display flu-like symptoms.
