The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued an Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) from 10:45pm on Thursday night (26th November 2020) until 9am on Friday morning. Several areas across Trinidad and Tobago experienced flooding on Thursday, with flood waters still rising in some areas as of 11pm.
The Met Office notes that a combination of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the presence of a low level Trough continues to produce periods of moderate to heavy showers and periods of rain across both islands. While there may be a lull in the intensity of the activity at present (approximately 11pm on Thursday), Trinidad and Tobago can expect further periods of precipitation over the next six (6) to twelve (12) hours.
There is also the 60% chance of one or two heavy showers and the odd Thunderstorm, particularly during the pre-dawn hours on Friday. This can result in localized Street/Flash Flooding and gusty winds in some areas. There is also the possibility of Landslides/Landslips in areas so prone.
