A man is dead following a road traffic accident along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway early Wednesday morning (17th April, 2024). The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Christen Lewis of Bamboo Settlement #3, Valsayn.
According to reports, Lewis was in the passenger seat of a white Toyota vehicle proceeding along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, around 2:45 AM, when upon reaching Solo Beverages in San Juan, the driver of a white Chevy Colorado, which was proceeding behind the Toyota, lost control and struck the car. Both vehicles spun out before the Toyota ran off the left side of the Highway, crashing over the metal barrier before coming to a stop. Other motorists notified the Police and Emergency Health Services were notified, who responded to the scene and conveyed all injured victims to the Mt. Hope Hospital, where Lewis succumbed to his injuries around 4:50 AM. Investigations are continuing, led by W/Cpl. Lewis. This was said to be the 27th fatal road traffic accident that was recorded in the country for the year thus far. The last fatal accident took place on Sunday (14th April, 2024), when 29-year-old Travis Jack, a security guard of John Jules Trace, Fyzabad, died after he crashed his vehicle along Guapo Road, Fyzabad.
