A bandit is dead after he was shot by an off-duty Police Officer in Curepe on Sunday night (24th March, 2024). The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Ferdan Thomas of East Grove, Curepe.
According to reports, Thomas attempted to rob a man at gunpoint along Lyndon Street, around 8:00 PM. However, the potential victim was actually an off-duty Police Officer, who became fearful for his life and drew his firearm. Using the TTPS’ Use of Force policy, the Officer shot at Thomas.
The 20-year-old was hit several times and died on the scene. The Officer notified his colleagues at the St. Joseph Police Station of what transpired and Officers from the Northern Division responded to the scene.
Police said a loaded firearm was found near Thomas’ body.
