The Ministry of Health has announced on Sunday evening (29th March 2020) that Trinidad and Tobago now has a total of 78 positive cases of COVID-19, adding two (2) more since yesterday afternoon’s update. So far there have been three (3) deaths and one (1) person has been discharged. There have been a total of twelve (12) news cases in the past 48 hours. According to the Ministry:
The Ministry of Health has previously stated that the term “community spread” is used when it cannot be determined where the patient contracted the virus. The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) has tested a total of 525 samples to date. The Ministry notes that of the 78 positive cases, 49 of these came from the group of T&T Nationals who recently returned from a cruise. T&T will be locked down for all non-essential businesses from Midnight on Sunday 29th March 2020 until 15th April 2020 in an attempt to slow the rapidly growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
