A 10-month-old baby girl is among this country’s 1,031 confirmed COVID-19 cases according to reports. The baby’s mother first tested positive for the virus after showing symptoms and the 10-month-old was then swabbed earlier this month. The baby began experiencing fever and nasal congestion prior to testing. Both mother and child were taken to the Couva Hospital by ambulance. Since then, the baby’s father, her 7-year-old sister and three (3) other family members have all tested positive for COVID-19 and were also taken to the Couva Hospital. Since then, five (5) members of the family, including the baby, have been taken to a step-down facility awaiting further testing. A relative said the family was swabbed a second time on Monday morning (24th August 2020). “We are now hoping for negative results as everyone is feeling better now. After two negative results we will be able to go home,” she said. The Ministry of Health announced another death plus twenty-four (24) additional COVID-19 cases on Monday morning. T&T’s confirmed cases are now 1,031, with 851 being active cases. This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates. [Source]
