Two (2) men are dead following a shooting incident in Moruga yesterday evening (Monday 22nd April, 2024). The deceased have been identified as 31-year-old fisherman, Oba Gill of Simon Trace and 34-year-old labourer, Brandon Seenath of Douglas Trace, St. Mary’s Village. Seenath also had another address in the Rio Claro district. Gill, who died on the spot, was said to be the brother of Italo James, who was shot dead in 2007.
According to reports, Gill and Seenath were in the garage area of Gill’s home in St. Mary’s Village, around 5:30 PM, when gunmen suddenly opened fire, hitting both men. Gill’s body was found slumped on a chair while Seenath’s body was found nearby, lying face-down on the ground. Police and Emergency Health Services were notified. Cpl. Jointe and PC Burton of the St. Mary’s Police Post were the First Responders to arrive. Crime scene investigators recovered ten (10) spent 5.56 casings.
