A 26-year-old man was allegedly kidnapped, assaulted, robbed and left tied to a tree in Caura on Sunday night (24th March, 2024). According to reports, the victim was near the Caura Royal Road Community Center, when a silver Nissan AD wagon pulled up around 7:00 PM. He was subsequently greeted by a man known to him; however, the conversation soon became confrontational.
The victim was then forced into the vehicle and taken to a bushy area near the WASA Plant along Caura Road, where he was allegedly assaulted and robbed before being tied to a tree and abandoned. Police were subsequently notified that the victim was missing around 7:00 AM on Monday morning. Based on intelligence received, Officers then proceeded to the WASA Plant. Upon arrival at the location, they found the victim tied to the tree. He was cut loose and taken to the Mt. Hope Hospital where he received medical treatment. Cpl. Stevenson is said to be continuing investigations into the incident. A similar incident occurred on Friday 23rd February, 2024, when 26-year-old Arshad Mohammed, a bar owner of Gandhi Village, Debe was abducted, robbed and left tied to a tree in Couva.
