Central Division Officers seized and destroyed a quantity of marijuana trees, during an exercise conducted in the Division yesterday (Tuesday 26th March, 2024).
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Tuesday, Officers of the Central Division Task Force-Area South and the Couva Police Station, conducted a joint marijuana eradication exercise in the Gran Couva district. During the exercise, the Officers trekked some 400 meters in a forested area off Caratal Road, Tortuga, Gran Couva, where they discovered a marijuana field. Reports indicated that there were approximately 300 marijuana trees, including 100 fully-grown, high-grade trees and 200 juvenile trees. The young trees were destroyed and the 100 fully-grown trees, which have an estimated street value of $250,000, were uprooted and conveyed to the Couva Police Station. PC Ellis is continuing enquiries. The TTPS said this exercise was co-ordinated by Snr. Supt. Simon, Supt. Baird, Supt. Gloudon, and ASP Ablacksingh, and supervised by Sgt. Persad.
