Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, unveiled what he calls the “Cybertruck” on Thursday night (21st November 2019) at an Event in Los Angeles. This electric Pickup Truck is set to roll off the assembly line in late 2021, starting at US $39,900. Pre-Orders have already started.
It’s safe to say that the design of the Cybertruck is not loved by everyone. Some people love it, others absolutely hate the look of the thing. Musk clearly does not care what people think of its design, as he said so in a Tweet back in 2018.
The Cybertruck can seat a total of six (6) adults and the body is made of ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel. In an effort to demonstrate its ruggedness, Musk had Tesla’s Chief of Design, Franz von Holzhausen, hit the door of the Cybertruck with a Sledgehammer several times, without leaving a dent. They then showed the Pickup Truck winning a Tug-of-War with a Ford F-150 and a Drag Race with a Porsche 911. However, all did not go as planned during the demos. When Holzhausen attempted to throw a metal ball against the armored glass of the Cybertruck, it shattered on both tries. Musk quickly joked “we’ll fix it in post.”
There will be three (3) available versions of the Cybertruck, as follows:
