The identities of three (3) people who tragically died in a vehicular accident along the Uriah Butler Highway early on Sunday morning (11th October 2020) have been identified by Police. Dead are 28-year-old Crystal Baboolal of Cane Farm, Arouca; 20-year-old Michael Walters of Laventille Road, Laventille; and 36-year-old Michael Ashton of Lower Santa Cruz. According to reports, around 5:14am this morning, a silver Nissan Tiida driven by Michael Ashton was proceeding North along the Uriah Butler Highway in the vicinity of Massy Tracmac, when he lost control of the vehicle and ran into the back of a dump truck, which was also proceeding in the same direction. Police confirm that all three (3) persons died on impact at the scene. The driver of the dump truck, who has been identified as PC Isahak, reportedly attached to the St. Clair Police Station, is said to be unharmed. Fire appliances from the nearby Chaguanas Fire Station responded to the scene along with Police Officers. The accident caused bumper-to-bumper traffic and vehicles were re-directed through Biljah Road onto the Caroni Savannah Road, where they accessed the Northbound lane of the Highway in order to continue on their respective destinations.
